Iriká Coffee Tour
Description:
Live an authentic experience on a certified organic coffee farm, surrounded by nature and with stunning views of the Turrialba volcano.
The tour begins with the story of the family that has worked this farm for over 20 years, and their commitment to organic and sustainable production. Visitors will learn about the practices that keep the organic certification active, as well as the environmental and social actions that are part of the comprehensive management of the farm.
During the walk through the coffee plantations, the completely manual harvesting process is explained, the challenges of growing coffee in the unique climate of Turrialba —without a defined dry or rainy season— and how this factor influences the multiple bloomings and a prolonged harvest throughout the year.
The experience continues with a demonstration of the artisanal drying of the beans and a talk about the work of the APOYA group, a local association of organic producers from Turrialba to which we belong as active members.
The tour concludes with a tasting of a specialty coffee, roasted at a local mill and exported to the Netherlands for its organic quality, accompanied by a typical snack made with products from the farm.
