Iriká Coffee Tour
The experience:
Enjoy an authentic experience at a certified organic coffee farm, surrounded by nature and with stunning views of the Turrialba volcano.
The tour begins with the history of the family that has worked this farm for over 20 years, and their commitment to organic and sustainable production. Visitors will learn about the practices that maintain the organic certification, as well as the environmental and social actions that are part of the farm's comprehensive management.
During the walk through the coffee plantations, the completely manual harvesting process is explained, the challenges of growing coffee in Turrialba's unique climate —with no defined dry or rainy season— and how this factor influences multiple blooms and a prolonged harvest throughout the year.
The experience continues with a demonstration of the artisanal drying of the bean and a talk about the work of the APOYA group, a local association of organic producers in Turrialba of which we are active members.
The tour ends with a tasting of a specialty coffee, roasted in a local mill and exported to the Netherlands for its organic quality, accompanied by a typical snack made with farm products.
