Natural history talk and the farm
Description:
Join us on a fascinating journey through the natural history of Costa Rica. In this engaging talk, you will discover how a small country, which occupies only 0.031% of the Earth's surface, houses more than 51% of the world's biodiversity. Learn about the geological forces that shaped our volcanoes and mountain ranges, the land bridge that connected North America and South America, and the impressive variety of ecosystems ranging from tropical dry forests to highland paramos.
We will highlight the importance of our islands, such as Cocos Island, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the incredible flora and fauna that make Costa Rica unique: from the resplendent quetzals of the cloud forests to the sea turtles nesting on the Caribbean beaches and the jaguars roaming the southern Pacific. The talk also addresses Costa Rica's pioneering role in conservation and renewable energy, positioning the country as a global model of sustainability.
This inspiring experience will help you appreciate the delicate balance between nature and culture, and understand why Costa Rica is recognized as one of the most biodiverse and happiest countries in the world.
At the end, participants are invited to enjoy a light snack.
